An email detailing a planned attack at a Mahwah school has spurred the mayor to place an armed officer inside every school in the town for the next three days.
Investigations have revealed that the rumored attack made public last Friday has since been discounted, but Mahwah Mayor Bill Laforet says parents can’t be too safe, especially in the wake of the tragic school shooting in Florida last week.
Laforet said, "It's very hard to escape what seems to be one of the most seismic of school shootings of the 236 that have occurred in this country. This seems like an event that's going to invoke some change."
Laforet says the plan to keep armed officers in schools is just an interim plan, and that he hopes to come up with a more permanent solution with the chief of police.
