State to reimburse Bridgeport for police bodycam program

Bridgeport officials announced Tuesday a pilot program for police body cameras in the city that the state will help pay for.
Mayor Joe Ganim and Police Chief AJ Perez say the program shows the police department's commitment to transparency and accountability.
Some officers in the city began wearing the cameras earlier this month. They interact with dashcams in police cars to provide different points of view.
Perez also says body cameras have been proven to reduce the use of force by police and the number of complaints made by the public.
The city is currently testing cameras from different vendors to determine which system officers like best.
