Cemetery tour celebrates prominent African-American figures
A special tour is being held at the Green-Wood Cemetery specifically for Black History Month.
Guests can travel to the cemetery by trolley to see the headstones and grave markers of prominent black figures in the Black in Brooklyn Tour.
Some include the first black female doctor in New York state and New York's first black millionaire.
The tour started four years ago. It's held every year to celebrate Black History Month.
"The cemetery did not record race so it has pretty much been a situation of acquiring one story and one person at a time to put on this tour," says cemetery historian Jeff Richman.
