Cypress Hills fire injures dozens

An apartment building fire Sunday night in Cypress Hills left more than 30 people, including two young children, injured.
Some residents of 97 Euclid Ave. say a battery for an electric wheelchair exploded, causing the fire. The FDNY has not confirmed this as the official cause.
Smoke quickly filled the whole building, all without setting off a single fire alarm, residents say.
The FDNY is investigating whether the building's smoke alarms were working at the time of the fire.
News 12 reached out to building management about the accusation but did not immediately hear back.
