The Hindu community in Soundview celebrated a special occasion Sunday.

Worshippers at Vishnu Mandir gathered to celebrate the temple’s 22nd anniversary.

There were plenty of songs and prayers as people gave thanks.

Members say they are happy to have a place where they can share their culture.

"Coming to this Mandir means everything to me. It gives me a sense of welcome and I can feel free to practice my religion," says member Vijay Jhagru.
