Escaped Enfield inmate caught in Georgia

The escaped prison inmate from Connecticut has been caught and is back behind bars after nearly two weeks on the run.
According to prison officials, a tip led police to Jerry Mercado at a gas station in Canton, Georgia, about 40 miles north of Atlanta.
Mercado escaped from the Carl Robinson Correctional Facility, a medium security prison in Enfield, by hiding in a truck back on Jan. 7.
State officials say Mercado, who was set to be released about a year from now for burglary, will now be transferred to one of the state's highest security wings.
