Teammates of 10-year-old who died from flu return to practice

Teammates of a 10-year-old New Canaan boy who died from the flu over the weekend have returned to practice at the Sono Ice House in Norwalk as a way to remember him, their coach says.
As News 12 has reported, Nico Mallozzi fell ill at a hockey tournament in Buffalo and died after returning home Sunday.
"I spoke to him on that Saturday evening," says Tomasz Piatek, the coach of the Rough Riders hockey team. "He was fine. We were joking. Everything was normal."
Health officials say he had the uncommon influenza B virus. His 12-year-old brother is recovering from the same strain.
Piatek says the rest of the boys wanted to get back to practice right away. But they also had to take major precautions, including taking the Tamiflu medication.
"Everyone had to go the emergency room and see the doctors," Piatek says.
Their upcoming game this weekend is expected to be canceled.
The memorial fund for the boy has raised more than $140,000 in just two days.
