A teenager was killed and another was severely injured in a shooting early Thursday outside Maestro's Caterers in Morris Park, police say.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. outside the Bronxdale Avenue venue as a Sweet 16 party was wrapping up. A brawl broke out, and police say shots were fired during the altercation, leaving 16-year-old Sincear Williams with a fatal neck wound and an unidentified 17-year-old injured.
The 17-year-old, who was shot in the arm, remains in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
Police say witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda, leaving the scene.
News 12 reached out to Maestro's for comment. It said in a statement that it has hosted many Sweet 16s over the years and that this is the first time a deadly shooting has occurred there. It sends its condolences to the families involved.
People who live nearby say the shooting is alarming.
"I have my grandkids coming," says Jason Figueroa. "And just to think this happened after a disagreement inside Maestro’s. I think they need to beef up security."
There was no word on what started the argument that led to the shooting or any suspects.
