A new recovery center in the Bronx is helping fight the addiction crisis with a unique approach.
The Odyssey House Recovery Center, inside the Davidson Community Center, works to show those fighting addiction that there are alternatives to getting high.
“We do yoga, we do computer lab, we help with your resume, we do security training here, we do everything,” says Jesse Westbrook, a volunteer recovery coach.
Representatives of the center emphasize that the treatment does not force those seeking help to do anything – there aren’t any mandates.
News 12 is told that there are free group meetings Monday through Saturday.
New York State is also supporting the cause and has pledged to give $1.75 million to the Odyssey House Recovery Center over the next five years.
