Tenants at the Cooper Park Houses say they are unhappy with a new proposal that would take away their parking spaces.
The New York City Housing Authority has plans to get rid of the complex's parking lot to build more housing. The lot serves tenants at a couple of buildings.
NYCHA says the project is part of the NextGeneration Neighborhoods program. The goal is to use the site as a way to raise millions of dollars for repairs at Cooper Park and other NYCHA developments across the city.
The plan is to have 50 percent affordable housing and 50 percent market-rate housing.  All those who have permits for parking will be relocated somewhere else at Cooper Park.
NYCHA says it hopes to select a developer for the project by the end of next year.
