NYPD: Toddler treated for heroin overdose, father arrested

Police have arrested the father of a toddler who apparently overdosed on heroin Tuesday.
Police say Edgardo Rodriguez told them he fell asleep while high and doesn't know how his daughter got in contact with residue on his bed.
The child apparently ingested some of the drug. Police say she was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital after she had trouble breathing. The hospital gave her three doses of the opioid overdose antidote naloxone and placed her on a Narcan drip.
She was then transferred to the intensive care unit at Montefiore Meical Center.
Rodriguez faces charges of reckless endangerment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He is the father of another toddler who was also on the bed at the time.
