A Brooklyn middle school is providing its students will laptops for all of their assignments.

Our Lady of Perpetual Hope Catholic Academy in Sunset Park acquired a grant last year, and bought 80 Google Chromebooks for its students to use.

Junior high students started using them for all subjects in September.

Principal Margaret Tyndall says it's made a huge difference.

"Simple things like writing an essay, sending it to their teacher, having her correct it and having her send it back to them all in one day is phenomenal," she says.

The laptops also help teachers cut back on small tasks, staff say. 

"I was giving a presentation and I realized I didn't have to make photocopies of my PowerPoints to give to the students," teacher Marcela Chavez says. 

In a school where 60 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced priced lunch, students say they're happy to have the new devices.

“I feel privileged, and I think my classmates do too," Brandon Aragon says.

Tyndall says they eventually want the younger grades to get the laptops too.
