Parent petitions to allow open strollers on city buses

A New York City parent is petitioning to allow open strollers on Metropolitan Transportation Authority buses.
"Public transportation is a challenge," says Eran Livne. "You have to carry everything by hand and fold the stroller and board the bus and find a place for both of you to sit and all your bags kind of on the floor."
Because of that hassle, Livne started a petition calling on the MTA to allow open strollers on city buses. It has so far garnered more than 1,100 supporters.
City residents who spoke with News 12 seemed mixed on whether to enact the change. Some said it would take up space on already crowded buses, while others sympathized with Livne's plight.
The MTA says in a statement: "We will consider solutions that balance the needs of parents with the realities of adhering to strict safety requirements for passenger movement."
