Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is offering a reward for information in connection with a home invasion in Bedford-Stuyvesant that left a 91-year-old man dead and his 100-year-old wife in the hospital.
"I am personally putting up $1,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of these violent felons," Adams says.
Suspects entered the 160 Decatur St. home Wednesday afternoon and tied up its occupants, Waldiman Thompson and his wife Ethyln, before ransacking the place.
After breaking free, Mrs. Thompson made the 911 call to police Wednesday afternoon. Officers are calling the incident a home invasion robbery homicide. Mrs. Thompson has since been released from the hospital.
Neighbors and friends of the victims describe the couple as friendly and known by everyone on the street.
Adams is also reaching out to the community to be strong as police search for the culprits.
"I am also making a call out to our community...to step in with the funds necessary to pay for Waldiman's funeral," he says.
At this point, police say there are no clear signs of forced entry into the home, but they believe that multiple people somehow made their way inside. They say there is surveillance video that should help with the case.
