New Jersey's gubernatorial candidates spent Friday afternoon at the state's annual AARP conference.
Republican Kim Guadagno and Democrat Phil Murphy squared off on issues including tax reform and education funding.
Guadagno says that big changes need to be made to property tax policies.
"In my mind, we need to talk about the No. 1 issue facing all of us, keeping all of us up at night. That is ‘How am I gonna pay my property tax bill if it continues to go up?’” Guadagno told the crowd.
Murphy says that he plans to help seniors and those who didn't benefit as they should have from the property tax freeze program.
"Funding our schools will not only help keep New Jersey's reputation for excellent schools. It will also mean property taxpayers get a much-needed break,” Murphy said.
The candidates will debate on Oct. 18 at William Paterson University.
