Dozens of protesters hit the streets Saturday for the first-ever Brooklyn anti-gentrification march.

Protesters gathered at the Barclays Center to send the message that Brooklyn is “not for sale” as part of a march that not only opposed gentrification, but also police brutality.

Organizers say neighborhoods in Brooklyn are being torn apart by rent prices that are driving low-income families out of their homes.

The march passed through Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy and Bushwick.

"We need to talk about developers coming to communities and building these expensive luxury condos that force out working-class black and brown communities who have been there for decades,” said protester Justina Walker.

The protest fell strategically just ahead of New York City’s primary elections on Sept. 12, as organizers look for answers from local politicians.

News 12 reached out to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office, but has yet to receive a comment.
