Approximately 3,500 PSE&G customers were without power early Thursday morning in the Jersey City area, according to an outage map on the power company’s website.

The outage occurred between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Police were directing traffic at major intersections where traffic lights were not functioning.

As of 6:15 a.m. Thursday, only a handful of customers remained without power. CLICK HERE to view the outage map.

There was no immediate word on what caused the outage.
