The governor is expected at the new Tappan Zee Bridge Thursday for a special opening ceremony, so 'Turn to Tara' tracked down politicians who were influential in seeing the new span through.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said he is excited about the new span and is looking forward to it.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day said he is nostalgic about the old span, but commended the Thruway Authority and Gov. Andrew Cuomo because the new bridge is beautiful, built to budget and on time.
New York State Assemblyman David Buchwald said the new Tappan Zee Bridge is a huge deal for economic and job growth in the area.
Traffic is expected to shift starting at 9 p.m. Friday for the opening on the new bridge.
