Teen accused of fatally choking mom's ex appears in court

A Bronx teenager accused of fatally choking his mother's ex-boyfriend during a domestic dispute between the estranged couple appeared before a judge Friday.
Louis Moux, 18, appeared before a judge out on bail at the Bronx Hall of Justice as part of a preliminary hearing.
He is accused of fatally choking Stanley Washington, 43, after Washington allegedly struck the teen's mother in their University Heights apartment.
During the fight, police say Moux placed Washington in a chokehold and subsequently killed him.
Moux's attorney claims Washington was involved in at least three prior incidents of domestic violence against the teen's mom.
More than 25,000 people have signed an online petition to get the charges against Moux dropped. But Washington's brother, Ron, maintains that Stanley is the victim in the case.
Moux is scheduled to testify before a grand jury on Sept. 6.
