HUNTS POINT -

A young boy was struck by a black SUV while crossing Faile Street in Hunts Point Friday night.

Witnesses at the scene told News 12 that the driver of the vehicle and dragged the boy 10 to 15 feet before stopping. They say a group of people then worked to lift the SUV off the child.

The injured boy, who police sources say is 8 years old, was taken to Lincoln Hospital in serious condition. People close to the family say he has since been taken to another hospital.

Police say there is no criminality in the case since the driver stayed on the scene. Witnesses say the driver was visibly shaken by the incident.
