A local doctor is making it possible for his patients to get medical attention without ever leaving their house.
Dr. Lee Forest's practice, House Calls and Virtual Visits, specializes in home visits in Bridgeport. He says his practice is one of only a small handful in Connecticut that provides this service.
"It brings me so much closer with the patient when I'm in their environment and they invite me into their home," Forest says. "You almost feel like a member of the family."
One of Dr. Forest's patients, Charlie Coviello, says he loves the practice because it reminds him of his childhood when a doctor was more like a member of the family.
Coviello, who is HIV positive, also said he really appreciates having a physician build a rapport that goes beyond the relationship most people get from their doctor in a conventional office setting.
Dr. Forest does not take insurance, but says his fees are very affordable - from $69 to $99 per month for patients on a yearly plan. He does say that all the tests he orders are, in fact, covered by insurance.
