A Bronx McDonald’s drive-thru location that has plagued the exit and entrance roads with traffic for years, will be demolished and relocated, officials say.
The McDonald’s on the corner of East Tremont and Philips avenues has had a frustrating impact on traffic in the area for years, according to neighbors.
The line for the drive-thru ends up continuing into and through the street, one neighbor says.
Residents who live on the block can’t even get out of their driveways or parking spaces because drive-thru customers cars flood the area.
According the Throngs Neck Merchants Association,  McDonald’s is actually demolishing the location and rebuilding it.
The first draft shows that construction would tear down the building and redesign the entrance and exits on the same side of Philip or East Tremont avenues.
The Merchants Association has requested more draft design proposals so it can make the best decision for the community.
According to Vision Zero, five people were hurt last year at the troubled intersection.
Residents and the merchants association hope the new design will help ease the burden of traffic caused by the drive-thru.
