Swanky Franks in Norwalk closes after 60 years

A longtime fast food restaurant closed its doors over the weekend without any notice, disappointing many residents in Norwalk.
The owner of Swanky Franks on Connecticut Avenue tells News 12 Connecticut that the decision to close Saturday was difficult to make.
She says an injury sustained last week left her with no other choice but to close, because as the manager and cook of the restaurant, she says she won't be able to work for the next several weeks.
The local landmark had been around for more than 60 years.
"When they would ask where I'm located, I would say I'm right across the street from Swanky Franks, and they would say I know exactly where it was," says Greg O'Neill, of Norwalk. "I even had it on my business card for a while, right across from Swanky Franks. So, that's how much of an institution it was."
The owner says the restaurant closing is an end of an era, but she is looking forward to spending more time with her family.
