Vigil remembers slain Bellport H.S. students
Community members gathered Monday night for a vigil remembering two Bellport High School students found dead last week.
Police say the bound, mutilated bodies of Jorge Tigre, 18, Justin Llivacura, 16, and two others were found Wednesday in a Central Islip park.
Police believe the gang MS-13 is likely behind the killings.
Instead of candles, many present at the vigil held glow sticks in remembrance of the victims.
Also Monday, there was an increased security presence at Bellport High School as students returned for their first day of class since the victims were discovered.
