NYC expands ferry service

Mayor Bill de Blasio was aboard the first official journey of one of the 20 new New York City ferry boats Monday.
"This is going to be a new day for our city and a chance for people to get around better," de Blasio said.
Second-graders from P.S. 170 in Bay Ridge came up with the boat's name, the Lunchbox. It carried the mayor to Pier 1 at the Brooklyn Bridge Park to celebrate the launch.
The boats feature Wi-Fi and will cost the same as a subway ride. Each one holds about 150 passengers.
The rest of the fleet is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Ferry service will open to the public on May 1.
