TZB officials hold question-and-answer sessions

Question-and-answer sessions were held Tuesday to give residents an update on the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
A panel of representatives from the New York State Thruway Authority and members of Tappan Zee Constructors, the group building the new bridge, held meetings to answer questions and gave presentations on the progress of the new bridge.
Highlighted in the presentation was the demolition of the toll plaza in Tarrytown, leaving four unobstructed lanes. Also, earlier this spring, the temporary cashless tolling system went into effect on the Rockland side of the bridge near Exit 10.
The new $3.9 billion bridge has really begun to take shape as well. Road decks have started to be put into place, and the final concrete crossbeam for the new bridge's towers were set. The towers are 419 feet high at mid-span.
The first meeting was held Tuesday at the Washington Irvington School in Tarrytown. On the Rockland County side, a meeting will be held Wednesday at Nyack High School, also from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
