New law signed to require landlords to post tenant rights in buildings
A new law signed at City Hall on Tuesday will make it easier for Bronx tenants to know their rights.
The legislation spearheaded by Councilman Fernando Cabrera requires landlords to post a list of tenant rights in their buildings.
Landlords must also visibly post the Department of Preservation's website address, which has a complete list of guidelines for tenants and landlords.
Supporters say the new law is beneficial to landlords because it lets tenants know what is expected of them as well.
The new law is expected to take effect in 150 days.
