Police are investigating after a body was found near the Long Island Sound this morning.

They say a woman was found dead on the water's edge at the Shorehaven Condominiums. It is unconfirmed if the victim was found ashore or was ever in the water, but News 12 The Bronx has learned that she was fully clothed when the call came in a little after 9 a.m.

Officials also say that the woman was found with a slash on her head and mucus coming from her nose, which leads them to believe she somehow slipped and fell.

A resident nearby says the rocks on the shore are known to be slippery and that there are signs warning not to walk on them.
