All-female taxi service She Rides postpones app launch

A new transportation option for women was slated to launch Monday, but the founder says the demand was just too great to start.

The company She Rides plans to give women across the city a safe, female-friendly mode of transportation by allowing them to request female taxi drivers through a phone application.

Stella Mateo says the company needs more drivers before they can take reservations and release the new mobile app.

Mateo says the goal of the app is to make female passengers feel safer and to empower drivers.

Organizers say the She Rides website will be up and running tomorrow. They are also having a women's opportunity job fair to recruit drivers to the industry.
