7 hurt in Norwood fire on Decatur Avenue; 3 families homeless
Three families are homeless and seven people are injured after a fire at a three-story house on Decatur Avenue this morning.
FDNY officials say the fire started at 3311 Decatur Ave. at around 7:30 a.m. It quickly grew to a three-alarm blaze and spread to two neighboring homes.
The intense fire sent some occupants jumping from windows to escape the fast-moving flames.
Three people who jumped out of the building sustained ankle, leg and head injuries. Three additional civilians and one firefighter suffered minor injuries, including a 3-year-old girl who was treated for smoke inhalation.
The three families that live in the damaged homes lost close to everything, but they say they are grateful to be alive and thankful to their neighbors.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
