Residents endure partial elevator access at Mott Haven apartment building
Residents living in a Mott Haven apartment building say one of their elevators hasn't worked for months and that it's impacting tenants who can't take the stairs.
They say one of two elevators in the building located on St. Ann's Avenue has not worked for about three to four months.
Residents say they have to wait a long time for the elevator because when the working elevator arrives, it's often too crowded for them to get in.
They also say that the elevator sometimes gets stuck because there are so many people taking it.
The building's management company told News 12 that it started repairs on Wednesday. It says once work is done on the first elevator, it will start on the second one.
The process could take about a month. After completion, the Department of Buildings needs to inspect the elevator before it can be used.
