State senate hopeful Robert Jackson attends BX peace run
Some local politicians, including state Senate candidate Robert Jackson, and church leaders gathered Sunday in the Bronx for a peace run.
The run, which included several prayer services, started on Ninth Avenue and ended at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church on West 228th Street in Marble Hill.
"We are not taking a position on one side or another," said Jackson. "The only position I'm taking is promoting peace, respect, understanding and tolerance of people."
Jackson, a former New York City councilman, is running for the 31st district state Senate seat, which is currently held by Adriano Espaillat.
