Mall at Bay Plaza holds grand opening in Co-op City

Thursday was opening day for the Mall at Bay Plaza in Co-op City.
After two years of anticipation and construction, the first indoor suburban-style mall to be built in New York City in more than 40 years was finally ready for shoppers.
The three-story mall features more than 700,000 square feet of retail space. The mall contains nearly 100 stores, including Neiman Marcus, Michael Kors, Victoria's Secret and the Gap. It also has a food court and restaurants.
Shoppers waited in line for hours this morning to make sure they were the first to get to early bird specials.
Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. said the mall is providing 1,800 jobs to Bronx residents.
