A News 12 source says correction officers at Rikers Island had to use force to subdue a group of inmates after lockup time was changed from 11 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The source says that two housing units were not cooperating with the new night lockup time Monday evening.
Guards had to use pepper spray to get the situation under control.
Other than complaints about pepper spray, no staff or inmates were injured.
