Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education hosts street festival to celebrate 80th anniversary

A free cultural event for people of all ages was held in the borough Saturday.
The Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education marked its 80th anniversary with a street festival, representing a mixture of Latino, African and hip-hop music, as well as dancing that focused on hip-hop and salsa.
Organizers say the event was all about catering the community in an effort to serve it well. They also say it was important to highlight salsa and hip-hop because of their roots in the South Bronx.
