Best of the Bronx: Mosner Family Brands meat market going strong in the Bronx after more than 50 years
A family-owned meat business in the Bronx is still going strong after more than 50 years.
The Mosner Family Brands meat market is one of the only meat markets left in the Bronx that still brings in whole animals to distribute to high-end retailers.
The business, which was started by David Mosner, works with establishments like Whole Foods and Wolfgang Puck restaurants to provide prime choices of meat. Mosner started the business in 1957 out of the back of his station wagon when his boss would not give him a raise.
He eventually handed it down to his children, who have now opened the doors to their own kids.
The Mosner family says they have forever stood by their product and will continue to grow with new generations to come.
Mosner Family Brands also offers hands-on classes in butchery, where people can learn more about the art from trained professionals.
