Aftermath of Hunts Point supermarket fire takes toll on tenants
A fire at a Hunts Point supermarket last month is still taking its toll on tenants along Hunts Point Avenue.
It took more than 200 firefighters to extinguish the five-alarm fire that ripped through the Food Dynasty supermarket on July 25. Tenants who live above the destroyed building have been complaining about the smell and damage to their apartments.
One tenant has reached out to the city and the building's management, but no one has cleaned up the rubble left behind after the blaze.
Hunts Point Housing Development told News 12 they will take care of the repairs to the apartment, but is not responsible for cleaning up the remains of the supermarket. They say the supermarket owner should be held responsible for the cleanup.
Attempts to reach the supermarket owner were not successful.
