Sen. Jeffrey Klein announces plan to redo Waring Playground after Bronxdale parents complain
Sen. Jeffrey Klein says that with urging from Bronxdale parents and the Bronx Park East Community Association, he's been able to allocate $500,000 to refurbish a popular park in their neighborhood.
Many residents have complained that Waring Playground, located near Waring Avenue, is outdated and neglected.
They say that much of the playground equipment is rusty or falling apart, and wooden stairs give their kids splinters, among other problems.
Klein says the whole process is going to take about a year-and-a-half. The next step is to meet with the Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as the community to discuss what they want in their new playground.
