Today, the United States marks 238 years as an independent nation, and although there are celebrations taking place across the country, many citizens are still hard at work.
While Independence Day is a national holiday, several stores are maintaining hours throughout the day.
Some Bronx residents say they decided to work today to earn some extra money, or don't have a choice. Others say they made after-work plans.
