Acacia Health Fair aims to combat asthma in the Bronx
The Acacia Health Fair took place Wednesday in the Bronx.
The fair is working to combat asthma in the borough. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in eight adults in New York suffers from the condition.
The NYC Department of Health shows that the Bronx has the highest number of asthma-related hospital visits.
Many Bronx residents do not have a regulated plan to treat their asthma attacks and symptoms, leading to busy emergency rooms.
The idea of the health fair is to connect medical professionals with people in the community that suffer from the chronic disease.
