19-year-old shot, gunman on loose in Mott Haven
A gunman is on the loose after a shooting in Mott Haven just feet away from the 40th Precinct.
Shots rang out shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a 19-year-old man was shot in the face.
Neighbors in the area say that the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Mitchell Houses. They say the victim started running toward the corner of Alexander Avenue and 138th Street when he was shot again. He then went into the 40th Precinct to ask for help.
Police are searching for the suspect.
The victim was transported to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.
