Catholic schools have been awarded additional free universal pre-Kindergarten seats, giving New York parents more options when it comes to enrolling their young children.
Mount Carmel in the Bronx is one of 33 schools in the Archdiocese of New York that is adding 1,300 seats to both existing and new programs for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year.
Demand is high for the programs, and places will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Children who turn 4 years old in 2014 are eligible and there are no financial requirements so all families are encouraged to apply.
