P.S. 61 placed on soft lockdown as NYPD conducts search for students

P.S. 61 was put on soft lockdown Monday morning, as the NYPD searched for two elusive students.

The Department of Education says that two students, who do not attend the school, were spotted on campus. When they were confronted by security, officials say they ran off.

Officers were called in to search the building, but were unable to find the students.

The lockdown was lifted before 10 a.m. and classes returned to normal.
