Bronx residents hit Orchard Beach to kick off Salsa Sundays

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, every Sunday is Salsa Sunday at Orchard Beach.
The tradition started about 50 years ago when founder Ernie Ansley used to power the music with car batteries.
Since then, it has grown into a local tradition.
According to residents, the salsa is a combination of Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, and Dominican music.
About 600 people came out Sunday in a celebration of Hispanic heritage and of the accommodating beach weather.
