3-alarm fire rips through building on Lacombe Avenue in Castle Hill
Flames erupted today at a building that houses a day care center in Castle Hill.
The fire sparked at around 2 p.m. at a building located in the 2,100-block of Lacombe Avenue.
Witnesses say firefighters rescued a man from inside the building. The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with what appeared to be minor burns, according to witnesses.
One witness also says he helped six others out of the building.
The day care was located on a side of the building that did not catch fire. The manager of the center says that all of the children are safe, and that they were taken to P.S. 174 down the road.
The Red Cross says there are about eight people that may need temporary living assistance.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
