New tool, Code Notes, helps small business and property owners navigate NYC construction rules
A new online tool is now available for New Yorkers who are having trouble navigating the city's construction rules.
A tool called Code Notes outlines codes, zoning and approvals necessary to get a building permit. It is a step-by-step guide to help small business owners and property owners keep track of many codes and zoning regulations.
Each Code Note explains the necessary filings, applicable codes and zoning rules for some of the most applied-for construction projects in New York City. Antennas, scaffolding and detached garages are some examples of these projects.
The city's Buildings Department reviewed 459,000 plans last year.
