Taxi driver Gairy Tarrant charged in police chase from Mount Vernon to Co-op City
A cab driver has been charged in connection with a chase that injured two officers. 
Authorities say Gairy Tarrant sped through a road safety checkpoint in Mount Vernon last Friday night, leading police on a chase into the Bronx. 
The yellow taxi stopped at 233rd Street and Dyre Avenue where the driver allegedly drove at officers approaching the vehicle, hurting them in the process. 
The chase eventually came to an end in Co-op City at Co-op City Boulevard and Bartow Avenue where a viewer captured video of the scene. 
Tarrant is facing a number of charges, including assault and reckless endangerment.
