BX assemblywoman cuts deal with DA

(01/07/03) THE BRONX - Veteran Bronx Assemblywoman Gloria Davis, who is facing bribery charges, has cut a deal with the Manhattan District Attorney.

Under the deal, Davis will serve a three-month jail sentence and serve five years probation for taking money to steer an $880,000 construction project to a contractor. Davis has served in the state legislature for more than 20 years but has since resigned from her position in the 79th Assembly District.

Governor George Pataki (R-New York) must now call for a special election to fill her seat.
