Taking aim in the Bronx

(07/14/03) VAN CORTLANDT PARK - Five hundred athletes from around the world were in the Bronx on Monday to compete in the 42nd World Archery Championships. This marks the first time that the world's top ranked archers will go head to head in New York City.

This competition will determine which archers will compete in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. The elimination rounds take place all this week in Van Cortlandt Park, and the finals are in Central Park this weekend.

The competition is free and open to the public. There is also a special demonstration area where people can try their hand at the sport.
