BX residents to get their street cleaned
(07/14/03) FORDHAM - Residents of Coles Lane, a dead-end street in the Bronx, have complained about graffiti, drugs, garbage and crime for about two decades. When told of the problem, New York City officials said they were not aware of it because they weren't sure they owned the street.
When the residents first asked the city for help in cleaning up the street they were given the run around by several agencies. Now, the Department of Transportation (DOT) said the street would be cleaned and repaved over the next couple of weeks. The DOT said one of the problems was the street changed ownership several times and wasn't on any of their maps.
